BACKSTAGE
Getting Ready for your Headshots
Headshots should feel polished, current, and like you.
You do not need to overthink your session. A few simple choices beforehand will help keep the focus where it belongs, on your face, expression, and professional presence.
What to Wear
You may bring up to three outfit options. A jacket, blazer, sweater, or other layer can also give us more variety without requiring a completely different look.
Choose clothing that reflects how you want to be seen professionally and feels appropriate for your industry, brand, or position.
Stick with solid colors whenever possible.
Black, white, navy, gray, cream, jewel tones, and other simple colors usually photograph beautifully and keep the image looking clean and timeless.
Try to avoid:
-
Busy patterns
-
Tiny stripes or checks
-
Large logos
-
Distracting graphics
-
Clothing that wrinkles easily
-
Anything that does not fit comfortably
Hair & Makeup
Please arrive camera-ready, with your hair and makeup already finished before your scheduled session time.
Keep your look recognizable and true to how you normally present yourself. This is generally not the best time to experiment with a completely new hairstyle, dramatic haircut, or unfamiliar makeup look.
Bring anything you may want for quick touch-ups.
If you would like professional hair or makeup before your session, a salon is conveniently located downstairs from the studio.
The Small Details
Before your session, take a quick look at the details that can easily be overlooked.
Make sure facial hair is groomed, nails are neat, and clothing is free of lint, pet hair, or wrinkles.
If you wear glasses regularly, bring them. Anti-reflective or glare-free lenses are preferred if you have them, as they photograph more cleanly under studio lighting. If you own more than one pair, feel free to bring options.
Right Before Your Session
Eat something, drink water, and give yourself enough time to arrive without feeling rushed.
Most importantly, you do not need to know how to pose.
I will guide you through expression, posture, angles, and positioning so we can create a headshot that feels confident, natural, and professional.
