Getting Ready for your Couples Session
Couples Sessions
Couples sessions should feel connected, relaxed, and true to the two of you.
I recommend planning for two looks. Keeping wardrobe simple helps the session stay comfortable and gives us enough variety without spending too much time changing.
What to Wear
Coordinate rather than match.
Choose colors and textures that work well together without dressing identically. Solid colors, denim, neutrals, black, white, and simple textures usually photograph beautifully.
A great combination is one casual or relaxed look and one elevated or intimate look.
-For a More Intimate Look
For something relaxed and timeless, try a favorite pair of jeans. Distressed denim, cutoffs, worn edges, and visible texture photograph especially well.
For her, denim with a simple lace bra creates a comfortable, sensual look. For him, jeans with a bare chest, simple tee, or open button-down works beautifully.
For something more polished and cinematic, pair a sharp suit with an undone tie for him and satin or lace lingerie for her.
Shared Interests & Personal Details
Think about the things you genuinely enjoy doing together.
Reading, dancing, playing cards, hiking, listening to records, making cocktails, playing music, or another shared interest can all inspire part of the session.
Bring a few items connected to those interests if they feel meaningful to you. A favorite book, record, deck of cards, bottle of wine, flowers, or an instrument can help make the photographs feel more personal without becoming overly staged.
Keep in mind that the studio is located up a flight of stairs, so anything you bring will need to be carried upstairs with you.
Hair & Makeup
Please arrive camera-ready, with hair and makeup already finished before your scheduled session time. Try to avoid lipstick that may smear and stain.
If you would like professional beauty services beforehand, a salon is conveniently located downstairs from the studio.
Before You Arrive
Try your outfits on together ahead of time and have your bags packed the day before. The less you have to think about on the day of your session, the easier it is to arrive relaxed.
Treat the session a little like a date.
Give yourselves enough time, avoid rushing, and try to keep your energy in a loving, connected space.
The affection between you matters more than perfectly planned details.
I’ll guide you through movement, expression, and interaction so we can document something that feels real and worth keeping.
