Getting Ready for your Boudoir Session
Boudoir is intimate, personal, and completely your own.
You do not need to know how to pose or arrive feeling perfectly confident. I will guide you through the session from start to finish so your portraits feel sensual, powerful, natural, and true to you.
You may bring up to three looks, but those looks do not have to be traditional outfits.
What to Bring
Boudoir can be styled in many different ways.
You may choose lingerie, a bodysuit, stockings, heels, an oversized shirt, a robe, jeans, or something soft and simple.
You can also think beyond clothing entirely.
A look could be created with a bundle of fresh flowers, a musical instrument, a sheet or piece of fabric, a favorite piece of jewelry, a partner’s shirt, boots or heels, a meaningful object, or something connected to your personality, story, or fantasy.
The goal is not to arrive with three matching outfits. The goal is to bring a few ideas that give us different moods to work with.
Client Closet
A small client closet is available with select luxury robes, wings, and other specialty pieces that may be incorporated into your session.
Think of these items as an added styling option rather than your main wardrobe. Please plan to bring your own lingerie or other personal pieces that fit you well and reflect the look you want to create.
The client closet is there to add something extra, dramatic, or unexpected to your session when it fits the concept.
Hair & Makeup
Please arrive camera-ready, with your hair and makeup already completed before your scheduled session time.
Boudoir makeup can be soft and natural, smoky and dramatic, or somewhere in between. Choose a look that makes you feel confident.
Bring anything you may want for small touch-ups during the session.
If you would like professional beauty services beforehand, a salon is conveniently located downstairs from the studio.
Skin Preparation
In the days leading up to your session, drink plenty of water and moisturize regularly.
Avoid trying unfamiliar skincare products, aggressive treatments, or anything likely to irritate your skin right before your session.
If you wax, shave, spray tan, or schedule beauty treatments, give your skin enough time to settle beforehand.
Avoid fresh sunburns.
The Day of Your Session
Wear loose clothing on your way to the studio whenever possible.
Tight bras, socks, jeans, waistbands, and other fitted clothing can leave temporary marks on your skin.
If you plan to show a lot of skin, arriving in loose clothing without a tight bra underneath can help prevent lines and indentations.
Eat something beforehand, drink water, and give yourself enough time to arrive without feeling rushed.
Hands, Nails & Details
Your hands may appear in more photographs than you expect, so make sure your nails are clean and neat.
They do not need to be professionally done. Natural nails, simple polish, or a clean manicure usually photograph beautifully.
Check for hair ties around your wrists, chipped polish, temporary marks, or anything else you may not want visible.
Bring What Inspires You
If you have photographs, artwork, poses, colors, music, or a specific mood you love, bring them.
You do not need to recreate someone else’s photograph exactly. Inspiration simply helps me understand what you are drawn to.
Soft. Dark. Romantic. Raw. Playful. Powerful. Minimal. Strange. Sensual.
We can make it yours.
Most Important
You do not need to change your body before your session.
You do not need to lose weight, know your best angle, or practice posing beforehand.
I will guide you through lighting, movement, expression, and posing throughout the session.
Bring what makes you feel something.
I’ll help create the rest.
